Trading software specialist Avenir Technology has appointed Steven Hamilton as its next chairman, as it bids to expand its global presence.
The firm, with offices in Wellington, New Zealand and London, on Monday announced that Hamilton is its new chairman of the board. He took up the role on May 14 according to a Companies House filing. Hamilton, who was until September 2022 global head of financial derivatives at Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), has most recently had consultancy and non-executive roles at London Metal Exchange and Tower Research Capital.
“I’m delighted to join Avenir Technology at such an exciting time,” Hamilton (pictured) said in a release. “Their commitment to delivering resilient, next-generation market infrastructure is exactly what the industry needs.
“I look forward to working alongside Adrienne and the team to expand our global footprint and enhance our technology offering.”
Hamilton has also previously been chief operating chief operating officer at The London Stock Exchange Group interest rates venue Curve Global, and had a stint at market maker DRW.
In the new role he will work with Avenir Technology chief executive Adrienne Muir.
“Steven’s expertise in global markets and his deep understanding of market infrastructure make him the perfect addition to Avenir’s leadership,” Muir said in a statement. “His experience at ICE and other major financial institutions aligns perfectly with our ambitions to deliver robust, scalable solutions to markets across the world.”
