Global Investor will host the first in a two-part series of live video conferences entitled the ISF Buyside Repo Forum
Global Investor will host on Tuesday May 12 the first in a two-part series of live video conferences entitled the ISF Buyside Repo Forum, looking at the current opportunities and challenges for banks and the buy-side in the repo market.
The video conference will begin at 14:00 BST on Wednesday when moderator Grant Davies, head of sales, EMEA at Equilend, will lead the panel discussion as they take a deep-dive into the market, unpicking the trends we’ve seen over the last few months, exploring the real practical realities faced by buy-side firms struggling to access the market and what is the future outlook.
The panel will be discussing the following:
Repo market behaviour in 2020, pinpointing key trends.
Buy-side participation trends and bank constraints, where are the sticking points and what can be improved?
How resilient are Europe's key short-term funding markets?
The problems of accessing the market, the buy-side benefits of clearing repos, and what can be refined?
With the markets under pressure last month, what is the outlook for tri-party repo?
Are there calmer waters ahead or are we looking towards severe pressure at year-end?
The panel includes: Nicky Parsons, director, head of product in Fixed Income Prime Brokerage at Societe Generale; James Upton, commercial services director at LCH; and Emma Cooper, director and head of Fixed Income Repo EMEA, BlackRock.
Davies, said ahead of moderating the panel: “I’m very much looking forward to moderating a discussion on the robustness of the repo market, which we saw throughout the recent volatility. As we look to the future of repo, it will be interesting to hear the panellists’ views on creating opportunities for access to this market for current and future buy-side clients.”
