Inter-dealer broker Tradition has hired Steven Major, a former global head of fixed income research at HSBC, to boost its regional presence in Dubai.

Major joins the firm after 24 years at HSBC, where he also chaired the macro strategy committee for global from June 2016 according to his LinkedIn profile. Major also previously headed European bond strategy at ING in Europe before leaving the Dutch bank for HSBC in 2001.

“Widely recognised for his thought leadership and analytical approach, Steven and his team consistently achieved top rankings in global macro and fixed income research,” Tradition said in a statement. “In his role at Tradition, Steven will provide both strategic macro and market insight for our clients.”

In June last year, Tradition appointed Richard Brunt as the group's first chief revenue officer, joining from BGC Fenics where he worked for 20 years, while in April 2024, Tradition appointed former CME Group head of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Michel Everaert to run its electronic trading business.

Tradition’s data arm in May promoted Shane Dillon to global head of account management, amid hires in New York and Hong Kong as part of a wider push to support new sales growth at TraditionData.
