Global Investor will host the second in a two-part series of live video conferences entitled the ISF Buyside Repo Forum
Global Investor will host on Thursday May 14 the second instalment of its two-part series of live video conferences entitled the ISF Buyside Repo forum, discussing the current opportunities and challenges for banks and the buy-side in the repo market.
The video conference will begin at 14:00 BST on Thursday when moderator Phil Morgan, COO, Pirum Systems, will lead the panel discussion as we discuss whether firms are prepared to meet their regulatory obligations and how technology can be used to benefit market participants.
The panel will be discussing the following:
SFTR reporting – is the market ready? How will it impact on repo activity? What should the buy side be doing now?
Central Securities Depositories Regulation (CSDR) - Discussing the key findings from ICMA’s impact study. Should the market expect further delays?
Collateral Management & UMR - What is the impact on collateral demand & repo? Are there learnings that can be shared across buy side/ sell side collateral management practices?
Electronic trading uptake and impediments to take up.
The panellists are: Phil Buck, Managing Director, GLMX; Iain Colquhoun, Head of Repo Trading and Sales, UK and Europe, TD Securities; Simon Davies, Business Development Manager, Pirum Systems; Andy Hill, Senior Director, ICMA; Catherine Talks, Product Manager, UnaVista.
Ahead of the panel, Talks said: “We are now two months away from the implementation of the first two phases of firms reporting. With the reporting deadline fast approaching, there are still a number of complexities that firms need to address, which we look forward to discussing on Thursday’s panel.”
GLMX’s Buck added: “Starting with the September rate spikes in the US and continuing through the extreme market volatility brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic, repo has been front and centre in its critical role in the financial markets. There has been no more relevant time to look at the reg and tech trends which are hugely impacting repo. I’m thrilled to be part of the panel.”
