European Market Abuse Regulation (MAR) will be welcomed by the
market, there remains areas of uncertainty, causing significant
The warnings come ahead of the market
expectation that the FCA will on Thursday publish its policy
statement and final guidance on the EU Market Abuse Regulation,
just over two months before the new rules come into force.
James Wootton, corporate partner at law
firm Linklaters, said that firms are still waiting on practical
guidance: "The problem companies have been facing is that it
has not been clear to date how a lot of these new rules will
actually work in practice, so they have not been able to
finalise changes to their procedures and policies. The
FCA’s publication of the changes to its rules will
give the market a lot more clarity, although there are some
areas of uncertainty."
