European managers target US market

European investment managers are increasingly looking to target the US market, according to Philip Masterson, head of SEI’s investment manager services division in Europe.

He said that managers in the region often ask SEI questions about US ’40 Act mutual funds.

“While there is no ‘one size fits all’ solution for U.S. distribution and not all strategies fit the applicable regulatory construct, ’40 Act products permit managers to access multiple channels in the U.S. and have over $10 trillion in assets, said Masterson.

"We frequently counsel managers on the pros and cons of establishing their own ’40 Act fund infrastructure or leveraging a turnkey series trust solution," he added.

In response to demand, SEI has launched a new guide to help European managers identify and understand important considerations before distributing in the US.
