Dechert expands London and NY teams, opens in Dublin

Law firm Dechert has hired Holland West as partner in its financial services practice group in New York. Until 2005 West was the head of global hedge fund, private equity, derivatives, and structured finance practices at joins from Shearman & Sterling.

Since 2007 he has also acted as of counsel to Shearman & Sterling on a part time basis. He was also previously a partner at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft and an assistant general counsel at Goldman Sachs.
The law firm also added James Waddington as a partner to its London office. Formerly at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, Waddington’s practice includes derivatives and credit default swaps.
He has practiced law in Paris, London and New York since 1985 and worked as an investment banker at Bankers Trust.
Separately, Dechert has opened an office in Dublin, led by Declan O’Sullivan. He specialises in investment funds, investment management and prime broking. He is a former chairperson of the Alternative Investments Committee of the Irish Funds Industry Association.
