21 July 2010

Daly, a board member of the Futures and Options Association, will swim in a team of four, which includes two Royal Marines.

The team will take turns to swim and each individual will swim for an hour before swapping to the next member. The swim is expected to last between 12 and 15 hours.

Asked what time the team hoped to cross in, Daly told FOi: “It all depends on the day. If it’s choppy, it could be as much as 16 hours. It would be a great run if we did it in 11.”

Swimmers are only allowed to wear swimming trunks, a cap and goggles. They will cover themselves in goose fat grease. “It’s a great opportunity to raise money for Futures for Kids, and to give something back,” Daly added.
