SEC enforcer Hodgkins promoted

Gerald Hodgkins has been promoted to associate director of the US Securities and Exchange Commission’s division of enforcement.

He has worked in the enforcement division since 1997 and has overseen many high profile investigations. These include cases involving options backdating, insider trading and broker-dealer regulation.

Hodgkins replaces Fredric Firestone, who left the regulatory body to join the private sector. He joined the SEC as a staff attorney in the division and became a branch chief in 1999 and an assistant director in 2007.
