MexDer to launch volatility swap

Mercado Mexicano de Derivados, the Mexican derivatives exchange, is planning to expand its suite of volatility products, as well as launching derivatives on exchange-traded funds.

Chief executive Jorge Alegría told FOW a new volatility swap based on the index’s calculations would find takers in the over the counter market, attracted by the security of MexDer’s clearing facilities.

“The new product will be a centrally cleared swap,” said Alegría. “It’s already in the testing phase and ready to be launched.”
