New chief at IDCG

Garry O’Connor has taken over from Chris Edmonds as chief executive of the International Derivatives Clearing Group, the new clearing service for interest rate swaps, majority-owned by the Nasdaq OMX Group.

O’Connor had been IDCG’s chief product officer. The clearing firm said Edmonds has stepped down “to pursue other opportunities”.

O’Connor began his career with Bankers Trust in Australia and New Zealand, managing interest rate, currency and commodity risk. He then ran various rates and swaps trading businesses at Merrill Lynch in Sydney, Tokyo, Hong Kong and New York.
