August has been a slow trading month for most exchanges across the globe
The Intercontinental Exchange and broker
Icap have become the latest markets to report slower trading
activity in August after most major exchanges reported double
digit drops earlier this week.
Atlanta-based Intercontinental Exchange
(ICE) reported a 10% drop in trading on its derivatives market
compared with the same period last year. The heaviest loss was
registered in equity derivatives, where trading dropped 74%
from an average daily volume of 306,000 contracts in August
2015, to 80,000 last month. Trading in commodity derivatives
dropped 8% to 2.5 million contracts per day.
