Regulator Esma has adopted a strict "no LEI, no trade" policy
The chief executive officer of The Global
Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF) has stressed urgency
for firms to register for a legal entity identifier ahead of
the implementation of Mifid II.

LEIs have been issued, mostly to firms that had
to register to comply
with relevant regulation applicable in the EU
and North America, respectively. Mifir/Mifid II extends the
scope, and we expect several hundred thousand firms to newly
