Two thirds of EU nationals working in UK
financial services could fail their post-Brexit visa
applications, Bloomberg has suggested in a grim warning that
adds to the various dire predictions for the City after the UK
"The referendum was ultimately all about
immigration, and in the wake of a Brexit, London could struggle
to attract and hire talent as new requirements could see entry
refused," said Sarah Jane Mahmud, regulatory analyst at
"66% of European Union citizens currently
working in the financial services sector in the UK would not
meet the visa rules as they stand for non-EU overseas workers
if the Brexit goes ahead," Mahmud added, citing recent research
from the Migration Observatory at the University of Oxford.
