Esma on Tuesday granted CME Clearing equivalence as a third country CCP
The European Commission’s decision last week to delay the
margin requirements under Emir will allow market participants to finalise their
technological systems, said the chief exec of CME Clearing Europe, amid
warnings that regional nuances remain in prep work.
“The delay in European collateral rules is giving market
participants more time to prepare for the added levels of complexity that are
on the horizon; it should be used as an opportunity to pay urgent attention to
the topic of collateral management - especially for firms that haven’t yet
established such capabilities,” Tina Hasenpusch, chief executive officer of CME
Clearing Europe, told FOW.
