Equivalence of EU regulation with Dodd Frank may prove challenging
Europe's Mifid II regulation may not fit with the equivalent
US rules, creating problems for large firms that operate in
both jurisdictions, a panel of experts warned on Wednesday.
"Pre-trade transparency under Mifid II is
different from transparency under Dodd-Frank, but the
objectives are the same. We should look at governance, control
requirements and enforcement, where they basically achieve the
same thing," said Alison Parent, head of global policy and
strategy at Barclays.
