R3 said in March the firm has partnered with 40 major investment banks
Ping An Financial Services Group has
joined tech start up R3’s blockchain project,
marking the first Chinese financial firm to partner with the
distributed ledger technology firm.
The firm will join over 40 financial
institutions to develop commercial applications based on
blockchain or distributed ledger technology.
"The addition of Ping An is another
important milestone for R3 as we develop our member network to
represent the interests of banks and financial institutions
operating in markets around the globe. We look forward to
collaborating with them in our lab to develop the next
generation in financial services technology," David Rutter,
chief executive of R3 and the former CEO of electronic broking
at Icap, said in a statement.
