European exchange's technology services are said to be moving to Portugal
Exchange group Euronext is to close its
Belfast office, which is home to the exchange’s
technology services, with the loss of as many as 80 jobs,
according to sources.
The Paris-based exchange Euronext
confirmed on Friday it will be closing its Belfast office as
part of broader effort to rationalise the business.
"Information Technology is a core
component of Euronext's value proposition that enables us to
run our markets and be the leading pan-European market
operator. We want to get closer to our core markets where we
are the leading market infrastructure. As a result we have
decided to relocate IT operations from Belfast and rationalise
our operating model," a spokesperson for the exchange told
