The European Securities and Markets
Authority (Esma) has accepted The European
Commission’s request for three of the 28
regulatory technical standards under sweeping regulatory
directive, Mifid II to be rewritten.
As reported by FOW last week, the European
Commission said that it will only endorse the standards
relating to position limits, non-equity transparency and
ancillary activities if certain changes are made.
In three open letters to the Commission
published late on Monday, the regulator said that work on the
EC’s proposed amendments will begin immediately,
unless it receives a written reply by March 29, 2016, stating
that its assumptions for the requirements of the rewrite are
