BNY Mellon urges buy-side to take a comprehensive view of collateral strategy
According to a new report by BNY Mellon
and The Field Effect, even market players who are not directly
impacted by certain regulations should be wary of the indirect
implications they could have on their businesses.
"While regulation such as Basel III will
have obvious direct consequences for a bank, players who are
not directly affected such as hedge funds or other asset
managers, need to pay attention to what it does to their
counterparty. These players are indirectly affected by the
regulation because it will fundamentally change the way the
banks work," Mark Higgins, co-author of the study and senior
business development manager at BNY Mellon Markets Group told
