MEP Markus Ferber proposed new Mifid transposition deadline of July 2017
Member of European Parliament and
rapporteur for financial legislation Markus Ferber has proposed
in a report a delay to the transposition date of Mifid II for a
year to July 3 2017.
The report by Markus Ferber suggests an
amendment to Article 93(1), which contains the Market in
Financial Instruments Directive (Mifid) II timeline. After the
one year delay of the implementation date to January 3 2018 was
confirmed last week, Ferber suggested that, given the
implementing legislation under Mifid II is still not available,
the EU should also delay the transposition date.
