Regulatory reform affects migration speed of new trading methods - Aite Group
Large buy-side firms are increasingly
embracing a range of trading techniques in response to
regulatory change in the world's top trading markets, according
to a new report from from a research firm.
The report by Aite Group found buy-side
firms have increased their use of cleared swaps to the extent
that this asset class is now as popular as uncleared swaps.
Aite said cleared swaps have become more
common despite the fact that mandatory clearing of
over-the-counter derivatives is only in effect in the United
States and Japan, with similar rules set to take effect in
Europe in the middle of this year.
