European exchanges said they will apply for OTF licenses at approporite time
The European Energy Exchange and
Powernext, the energy markets owned by Deutsche Boerse, have
taken the unusual step of saying they will launch this year
trading platforms before the relevant European rules have been
EEX and Powernext said in a joint
statement on Tuesday they plan to launch before the end of June
new platforms to trade their existing power and gas contracts
with a view to applying to operate a so-called Organised
Trading facility when that license becomes available.
