Eurex must await the European straight-through processing rules
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission
(CFTC) approved on Monday Eurex Clearing’s
registration as a derivatives clearing organisation (DCO), a
move that paves the way for the clearing house to clear swaps
for US-based firms.
The registration will only become
effective after Eurex Clearing meets the CFTC’s
straight through processing requirements, which Eurex has said
it plans to do so congruently with efforts to comply with
European straight-through processing requirements.
