The European authority is edging towards a key clearing agreement with the US
The European Securities and Markets
Authority (Esma) has agreed with Canadian and Swiss
regulators over the supervision of clearing houses from both
jurisdictions that have applied to be recognised under the
European Markets Infrastructure Regulation (Emir).
The agreements, which provide
cooperation arrangements between the jurisdictions, paves the
way for the official recognition of Canadian and Swiss
