Major derivatives exchanges in the US, Europe saw volumes fall in October
Trading volumes on Eurex, CME and the US
options exchanges fell by over 25% year-on-year last month in
the wake of lower volatility across Western markets.
October 2015 trading volumes were
substantially down on what was an exceptionally volatile month
in 2014 when markets were unsettled by the continued sharp
declines in global oil prices, the completion of tapering of
quantitative easing by the Federal Reserve and the increasing
conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
