The Paris-based exchange has added wood pellets to commodities suite
Pan-European exchange Euronext said it is
working on a push into the biofuels market, as it confirmed on
Monday the next stage in its renewable energy business with the
launch of a wood pellet futures contract.
"Euronext is looking at pushing further
into renewables and we are specifically focusing on biofuels.
This is largely driven by client demand. Our exchange members
want access to biofuels and chemicals," Olivier Raevel, head of
commodity derivatives at Euronext, told FOW.
"Biofuels and biomass are attractive
markets for us. Ethanol-derived contracts fare well in the
current environment," he added.
The exchange has Monday that it will
launch in the autumn of this year a new physically delivered
wood pellet commodities contract, subject to regulatory
