Menon called for extension of ASEAN Trading Link
Senior regulators at
the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) have called for
acceleration in the integration of South East Asian financial
markets and have labelled progress, among the Association of
South East Asian Nations (ASEAN), "disappointing."
Speaking at the ASEAN
Banking Council meeting in Singapore on Friday, Ravi Menon,
managing director at MAS, said that despite political
agreements in 2011, the "pace of financial integration
has… lagged behind trade integration. In part, this
is deliberate. In part, this is disappointing."
