Exchange launched four physically, eight financially settled gas futures
CME Group said it traded on Monday 40
Dutch natural gas futures contracts as its European exchange
went live with the new products, the first contracts of which
were traded by commodities broker Marex Spectron.
The new contracts are listed on the
marketplace’s European exchange, CME Europe, and
are the first to be introduced on the exchange since it
launched with FX and biofuel contracts in April last year.
The physically-delivered contracts cover
the major European gas hubs - the UK National Balancing Point
and the Dutch Title Transfer Facility – and the
financially settled futures are based on the ICIS Heren Natural
Gas Indices for UK, Dutch, Austrian and German natural gas
hubs. The natural gas contracts are available on Clearport and
Globex, and distributed via the Trayport platform alongside
other exchange products.
