British broker has cut over 400 brokers and support staff in the past two years
Icap Group chief executive Michael Spencer
said the world’s largest broker is close to
drawing a line under this year’s heavy job cuts as
he announced plans to spin off an Icap ship broking
Speaking on an Icap conference call to
discuss the firm’s half-year results, Spencer
said: "Restructuring in global broking is largely finished and
we have completed this very efficiently. We have reduced broker
headcount by more than 260 with another 170 system support and
back office staff."
