Kay Swinburne urges market to back Lord Hill's plans for a financial services Union
Swinburne, the member of the European Parliament for economic
and monetary affairs, has called on the finance industry to
engage with the European policymakers over a new initiative to
define a European Capital Markets Union.
told the 54th World Federation of Exchanges General
Assembly in Seoul, Korea that new European Commission president
Jean-Claude Juncker has asked Lord Hill, the incoming European
financial services commissioner, to start defining a Capital
Markets Union for the bloc.
said this is a unique opportunity for the industry to work with
policymakers to establsh the initiative because the EU and Hill
are taking a bottom-up approach to this project, which is
relatively unusual for the European Parliament
