Volatility has returned in recent weeks amid growing fears about the Eurozone
CBOE Futures Exchange, part of the Chicago-based group,
reported last week a record trading week, signalling a
long-awaited return of volatility to the markets after a
frustrating year for traders.
The exchange said on Monday its trading volume during the
week of October 6-10 set new records both exchange-wide at CFE
and for futures on the CBOE Volatility Index, known as
Exchange-wide volume at CFE for the week
totalled 1,664,651 contracts, topping the previous record
of 1,506,331 contracts traded during a week in early August.
VIX futures totalled 1,661,153 contracts, surpassing the
previous record of 1,504,866 contracts traded in the same
week in August.
