US energy exchange fears the fragmented Sef market could attract HFT
ICE’s chief operating officer has warned the
proliferation of new swap venues in the US could leave that
nascent market prone to high-speed traders.
Speaking at the Technology Advisory Committee (TAC) on
Tuesday, Chuck Vice, president and chief operating officer,
ICE, said the fragmentation in the equity markets which has
paved the way for high-frequency traders (HFT) could be
mirrored by swap execution facilities (Sefs).
