The prospect of low interest rates across Europe has dampened futures trading in the region
Interest rate volumes on Europe’s two main
derivatives exchanges, Eurex and NYSE Liffe, declined in April
amid flat European rates, whereas US volumes prospered, writes
Interest rate derivatives on London-based Liffe fell 15% to
31m on the same month last year and Euro-Bobl, Bund and Schatz
contracts on Eurex fell 8% to 33m.
