The US futures regulators has opted for a phased approach to the new rules for package trades
The US Commodity Futures Trading Commissions (CFTC) has
detailed requirements for so-called package trades to be
executed on electronic venues from May 16, writes Joe
The US derivatives watchdog stated package transactions in
which all components of the package are swaps are subject to
the trade execution mandate from May 16 but extensions were
given for other package transactions.
The agency said transactions which consist of at least one
made-available to trade (MAT) product and US Treasury
securities (such as US dollar swap spreads) will be given
relief from the execution mandate until June 16, while other
package trades will be given until November 16 from the Sef
