The European Commission has approved tough new rules to prevent market abuses
The European Council has formally adopted criminal sanctions
for market abuses such as benchmark manipulation and illegal
high frequency trading strategies as part of tough new rules,
In the latest step by European regulators to curb illegal
practices in the markets, rules drawn up in September last year
have been accepted by the Council and will be formally signed
off by the Council and the Parliament in June.
