CFTC joins with the Office of Financial Research to enhance data collected from registered SDRs
The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) will
begin a joint project with the Office of Financial Research
(OFR) to enhance data collected from registered swap data
repositories following concerns of flaws in the reporting
process, writes Joe Parsons.
Acting chairman Mark Wetjen and OFR director, Richard
Berner, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to begin the
programme to improve the quality, types and formats of data
collected in order to harmonise and improve reporting
The move comes after commissioner Scott
O’Malia said a lack of contemporary technology, in
combination with unreadable formats, were preventing the CFTC
bringing transparency to the swaps market, as reported by FOW
