Political tension in Ukraine has
sparked heightened levels of volatility in Europes
futures and options markets, leading to record daily volumes in
commodity and index derivatives on Monday, writes Joe
Both Eurex and ICE Futures Europe
posted all-time highs in VSTOXX index futures and UK natural
gas futures respectively, and options on gold and oil saw a
price spike amid fears the crisis in the Crimea may interrupt
ICE Futures Europe said its UK
national balancing point (NBP) natural gas future contract
achieved a daily record of 188,145 contracts, a 166% increase
from the previous record of 70,690 contracts set on January 13,
