Former NYSE Liffe co-chief executive Mark Ibbotson has
joined GH Financials Group as CEO, writes Jonathan
Ibbotson left Liffe in August after 23 years at the
exchange, marking his departure with the successful
transition of the exchange's clearing activities to ICE
Clear Europe earlier this year.
The industry veteran will join GHF as group CEO, based in
the clearing firm's London headquarters.
"Mark is a leading figure in the derivatives industry and
brings deep experience and seasoned leadership to GHF at
this crucial stage of our expansion," said John Foyle,
chairman of the board at GHF.
"His appointment demonstrates our ambition and strong
commitment to growing our business globally."
With Ibbotson's appointment at the helm of GHF's London
operation, Peter Lovell will be relocating to Hong Kong as
CEO of GHF's Asian branch.
Lovell has been with GHF for over ten years, first as
global operations officer before rising to the chief
During his time at GHF in London the number of exchange
memberships, clients and clearing volumes increased
Peter also drove the implementation of new technology at
the clearing firm and the opening of a new subsidiary in
"Peter's move to Hong Kong marks our recognition that Asia,
already a key driver of growth for the industry, will play
a major role on GHF's future development," added Foyle.
"Peter's contributions to the firm over the past eleven
years have resulted in significant growth and we believe he
is the right person to drive new business in this key
