The Commodity Futures Trading Commission has hired Steven
Schoenfeld as director of its division of market oversight.
Schoenfeld is joining from Global Index Strategies, a
consulting firm specialising in benchmarks and financial
product development, where he was president.
Previously, he has been chief investment officer of global
quantitative management at Northern Trust, a managing director
at Barclays Global Investors and an investment officer at the
International Finance Corporation/World Bank.
Schoenfeld was also a futures trader on the Singapore
Exchange and has worked with several world stock exchanges,
including those of Tokyo, Paris, London, Hong Kong, Tel Aviv,
Bangkok and Budapest.
In 2004 Wiley published a book edited and co-written by
Schoenfeld, entitled Active Index Investing: Maximizing
Portfolio Performance and Minimizing Risk through Global Index
