CME Group introduced weekly options on its S&P 500
futures on August 24. The European-style options, on both full
and mini-sized contracts, will expire at 3pm on the first and
second Fridays of each month. Two weekly contracts will be
listed at any time.
CME’s S&P product range already includes
options with end of month expiries, serial and quarterly
expiration cycles. In September, for example, the new
European-style options will expire on the first and second
Fridays, the quarterly option on the third Friday and the
end-of-month option on the last business day.
