New trustee appointed as investors seek returns as Sentinel goes bust
Longtime industry executive Fred Grede has been appointed as
the trustee in the Sentinel Management Group bankruptcy.
Grede, chairman of his own Chicago-based consulting firm called
Vega Financial Engineering, is responsible for untangling
co-mingled accounts and helping determine disbursements to
Grede was chosen over two other candidates, Jack Wing, a
long-time industry professional and Dennis Dutterer, former
president and CEO of The Clearing Corportation. Grede could not
be reached for comment, but several professionals in the
industry believe he is a good fit for the job. Grede was chief
operating officer of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited
and chief executive of Hong Kong Futures Exchange. He also
served as executive vice president at Chicago Board of Trade.
