As the competition over who will get their hands on Chicago
Board of Trade (CBoT) heats up, there is rising speculation
that NYSE/Euronext may be turning its sights on one of the
suitors, Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) while others feel
that it has identified a potential tie up with New York
Mercantile Exchange (Nymex).
As far-fetched as some have described the rumours, some
industry insiders said that the New York outfit is seriously
considering such an audacious move.
NYSE/Euronext CEO John Thain repeated his interest in
acquiring a US futures exchange at its annual shareholder
meeting on 7 June stating that NYSE is "exploring different
