The futures industry was once again fighting back against a
proposal by the George W Bush administration to impose a tax on
The White House's proposed fiscal 2007 budget included a "user
fee" on all futures transactions. As with past futures tax
proposals, the fee would finance Commodity Futures Trading
Commission (CFTC). The agency's budget for fiscal 2007 was
estimated to be $127m.
