Euronext Liffe has added variance futures to the suite of
OTC products offered on its wholesale platform B-Clear.
The contracts, based on a measure of volatility, were due to
launch on 18 September.
The variance swap market in Europe has developed mainly
between investment banks and hedge funds, Jonathan Seymour,
head of equities at the exchange, told FO Week.
He explained that the B-Clear service should suit the
variance market well, enabling customers the flexibility to
construct bilateral agreements then clear the trades on
