Taiwan Futures Exchange (Taifex) said last week that it was
to open further its markets to foreign firms with the launch of
three US dollar denominated contracts as well as rule changes
that would allow for speculative trading and omnibus
The exchange planned to launch US dollar denominated 100
ounce gold futures, as well as MSCI Taiwan Index futures and
options contracts on 27 March.
"The new gold contract will allow for spread trading with
Chicago Board of Trade's and Comex's 100 ounce gold contracts,"
said Foo-shiung Ho, president of Taifex. "And there also is the
one kilogramme gold contract offered on Tokyo Commodities
