Eurex members able to trade major exchanges through Fortis
Third party clearing firm Fortis has expanded its reach with
an exclusive deal to provide a connection to Deutsche
Börse's communications network, enabling any of the
network's 3,000 clients to access Fortis' services. This
included the ability for Eurex customers on the network to
trade other major futures exchanges including Chicago
Mercantile Exchange (CME), Chicago Board of Trade (CBoT) and
Head of network services for Deutsche Börse's IT
solutions division, Matthias Kluber, told FO Week that
the deal with Fortis marked Deutsche Börse's expansion of
its IT managed services into network operations. He said
initially the agreement would be exclusive. Although, he added
that the firm would want to open the service out to other firms
in due course.
Kluber said that the agreement with Fortis was the first
time Deutsche Börse had sold a pure network service. He
explained that previously the division had sold network
solutions but only as part of broader ASP deals.
