The UK's Competition Commission has published a report
acquiescing to a potential bid for London Stock Exchange (LSE)
by Euronext on the basis of certain undertakings to limit
The commission was concerned with ensuring the independence
of LCH Clearnet (LCH-C) as LSE's clearing provider. Euronext
currently has a 41.5% shareholding in LCH-C, which would
in the case of the proposed merger going ahead act as
clearinghouse for all trades on Euronext and LSE.
