Oslo-based International Maritime Exchange (Imarex)'s
announcement last week that it would begin displaying its
freight futures prices on Reuters has upped the profile of the
market and competition for freight business.
Earlier this year, New York Mercantile Exchange (Nymex)
launched forward freight agreement (FFA) trading on its
ClearPort platform (see FO Week Vol 10 No 12), while
LCH Clearnet began clearing trades conducted on a platform
created by three shipping brokerages (see FO Week Vol
10 No 17).
