European brokers may need to register with CFTC
Speaking to FO Week last week Commodity Futures
Trading Commission (CFTC) commissioner Sharon Brown-Hruska said
that there were still issues surrounding phase two of Eurex's
proposed global clearing link, and while the agency had been
working "especially hard" to resolve these, the exchange may
have to alter its original plans.
Brown-Hruska said that the original approach Eurex submitted
was "in some sense not completely clear" in terms of how CFTC
would be able to deal with all of its supervisory duties and
hinted that a compromise on the exchange's part in this area
could hasten the link's progress.
